Pop-Up Petals: A Little Surprise in Every Card

There’s something special about a card that keeps giving.

This birthday card starts with a cheerful floral design on the front, but when opened, it reveals a sweet pop-up bouquet hidden inside. 💐

For the card front, I wanted to create a warm, sunny feel.

The floral image from the Pop-Up Petals Bundle was coloured with Peach Pie, Daffodil Delight and Granny Apple Green, then layered onto a Basic Beige panel using a die from the retired Textured Notes Dies. I then framed it with an Early Espresso cardstock rectangle.

To add texture and interest, I embossed the Peach Pie card base using the Sunflower 3D Embossing Folder. The subtle sunflower background complements the floral bouquet without overwhelming it.

The Surprise Inside

Open the card and you’ll discover a miniature vase of flowers that stands upright inside the card.

Interactive elements like this always make handmade cards feel extra special. They’re fun to create and even more fun for the recipient to discover.

What I especially love about the Pop-Up Petals Bundle is that the dies do all the hard work, making it easy to create a polished pop-up feature without complicated measurements or engineering.

Last Chance Products

Several of the products used on this project are currently on Stampin’ Up!’s Last Chance List:

  • Pop-Up Petals Bundle

  • Peach Pie cardstock

  • Peach Pie Stampin’ Blends and Ink

If you’ve had your eye on any of these items, now is a great time to grab them before they’re gone.

A Little Reminder

Sometimes the best cards aren’t the most complicated—they’re the ones that create a moment of surprise and delight when they’re opened.

This one certainly made me smile.

Create something you’ll love to send!
